Default Cafe Racer Compliment.

I was parked at the store today to use the redbox. As I'm waiting in line, an old man pulls up and does a 360 around my bike. Comes inside and says, "Is that YOUR bike?" I started laughing and said yes. He told me he's 74 years old and is too scared to ride anymore, but that he loved my bike and it reminded him of the old CAFE RACERS.

Cool man. Hopefully in the spring I'll be making some mods (remove rear fender, struts, spring seat, wrapped pipes, etc)

Funny to read this post...as I just got back from the gas station a few moments ago. As I was getting ready to pump some fuel into the bike, a lady passenger in the stall next to me (probably in her late 70s to early 80s) was looking curiously at my bike. My first thought she was annoyed at the sound as I pulled in. However, she open her door and said "Nice Hog"...

I have gotten that a few times. It's ALWAYS from the old timers. I think the compliments from the older crowd are the best compliments you can get. IMO

Definitely! They were there and did all the stuff when it was fresh and new. Essentially, we mod our bikes standing on the shoulders of giants. For this one niche in society, we owe a great deal to the older generation. Most all of society owes a great deal of gratitude to them. Not just this one niche, but all of it. The people in their 70-80s were some of the first pioneers to get us to where we are today.

That is one reason my family and I go to nursing homes over the weekends. Just to hang out with the residents and let them know people still care and think about them.

Anyway, all that to say, "They know a real thing when they see it." So, when an older lady or gentleman compliments you on something, don't take it for granted. It is a special treasure when that happens.

A couple months ago, I had an oder gentleman come up to me in the church parking-lot wanting to talk about my springer. We discussed motorcycles for a good hour. He complimented my ride and told me about the bikes he used to have. He said the springer brought back a lot of memories.

Yeah it's sweet when non -riders like your ride. I get that alot with the XL50. Some do not like how loud it is, but they always love the looks.

I love watching Cafe Racers on TV, and have liked them for quite some time, even though I'm only 21. Hopefully I'll be getting some more parts for my Iron over the winter to make it more cafe-like.

And congratulations on your compliment, I've only had 1-2, most people don't know what it is...even though it's pretty much a stock Iron. Right now I just have a licks solo bag, flipped mirrors, front fender delete, chain guard delete, and V&H Shortshots. I want the RSD clip ons and speedo relocate, coil relocate, progressive springs, maybe a new seat too...
