Default Does Any One Know...

if a 96 custom was a standard 1200cc, or were they available as 883 and 1200.

A friend who works at the AMA has a co-worker that has a friend who is selling one for $2500. He sent me a pic... it looks really nice with a custom gost flame paint job and a bob tail fender.

There's only one guage visable in the photo... were all 1200's equiped with a tach? Were the customs an exception to the rule? I think the bike is an 883... if so... I'm wandering if $2500 is to much?

Here's a link of the photo he sent:

Can't see the pics.

The "C" model has just a speedo. I think it was only the "R" models that had the tach.

After doing some looking, the "C" came in both 883 and 1200 in '96.

Check the VIN tag on the neck.

Some sources show an XL883C being built in '96, others don't.

With the color of the jugs & heads and non-powdercoated cam cover (assuming they're stock) it appears to be a 1200 but it doesn't have drag bars or factory forward controls which should be indicative of a "C" model, right? The seat & risers look the part though.

If it runs well I think $2500 is a decent price either way.

The only "C" model in 1996 was the 1200C.

First year for the 883C was 1999.
