Default Choppin a 48

So I have been looking through here looking for ideas for my next project on the forty-eight and I liked where JPL went with the fender chop, anyone else done this to their 48, pictures would be greatly appreciated

Barry- check out forum members mreed or mread and slackster. There are others but I got inspiration from both. They have Nighsters rather than 48s but worth checking out. Not sure if I have seen anybody else chop their 48s.

Give it time...It's too new of a model. When you can get a used 48 for around $5k, you'll see a ton more chop projects out there.

There's no difference in chopping a 48 rear fender than an Iron or Nightster.

Mreed- thats a good point. I just picked up a fatbob and put a wide glide rear fender on but now I'm thinking I want to do something similar with that bike. Any thoughts?

Barry-yes I cut the struts. Somebody posted on here a bunch of pictures and a break down of how they did it. Slackster is one of them. If you go to the front page of this Sporster section and hit the drop down for "search this forum" and type in rear fender chop or stock rear fender chop you find some threads with what you are looking for. I will look for you as well.

Barry- ok, like I said go to the front of this sporster section and in the "search this forum" drop down menu-type in rear fender chop. On page 2 find Chopped stock fender? Nightster . This thread has 8 pages of info-mostly from mreed. Very helpful along with pictures of other members bikes who have done similar mods. Hope this helps. Good luck bro.

I'd have to see it. I'll be doing a Streetbob pretty soon and the rear fender will be part of it but I think I'll be doing a swingarm mounted fender & leaving the shocks.

JPL I appreciate the help, your bike has been my inspiration to do this, it's not easy to think about choppin up a new bike especially the struts, but I love the way yours looks
