Default Newbee with a question

Guys,

I'm in the UK and have had a Suzuki vanvan for a year and want to trade up to a 2011 iron 883.

I love the bike and the potential, the question is the usual one - I'm 6th and 200lbs and although it doesnt feel small it's certainly not big.

Is there a way to get around this, maybe longer shocks, a higher seat or maybe even drag bars and front controls (with front controls can they bit fitted along with the mid controls?).

Sorry for all the questions.....

Thanks in advance
Mark

I'm 6'2'' and about 160lbs. I have a '02 XLH883 with forward controls. The forwards are a huge help. Seats are available that have more padding to get you up or you can get some made that scoot you back. Every seat is different, which can make it difficult. The controls can go a lot of ways too, I find that apes (bikes I have ridden with them) make it a bit more comfortable and less cramped.

The forwards cannot be fitted concurrent with mids because they would be in the way. You can put forward pegs on, and use the mids as your controls and have the forwards for highway/relaxing.

I'm 6ft and 240 (I have long arms and legs, short torso). I put forward controls on and they made all the difference in the world with comfort. As soon as i find apes and a cable kit in my price range I'm gonna try them.(I'm a cheap f*ck)

I'm 6ft tall n 195 Lbs nekkid,,,
I ride a Roadster with Mid controls for better control.
I'm not cramped at all,,,
Tried Forwards,,,, Didn't like the lack of control,,
Not able to load forward pegs for hard over corners.
Not able to stick the toe of my boot out to feel the road before I drag a hard part.
Not able to load forward pegs for full lock U turns at super slow speeds.
Not Able to Lift my *** off the seat for a nasty bump,,,

Mids give options,,,like adding Hi way pegs,,,
Its best to move around on long rides,,,

Thanks for the advise guys - food for thought. Having a quick play on the vanvan I think I may just get it and try it with mids to start - maybe if need be I could get a bigger seat or longer suspension, on the flip side that may look odd - why didnt they make the bike 3 inches bigger.........

Ha ha, yeah it's ace! Really wish I could keep both bikes but I can't - will be a shame to trade it in!

Last question - what's the HD finance like in the UK, has anyone knocked them down to nearer 7% or 8% with the ballon at the end? Also how willing to negotiate on price are they - when I bought my girlfriends mini 3 yrs ago we got next to nothing off list and I have heard similar about HD - the guys in the showroom seem nice enough, but they are sales guys afterall so any advise on how hard to push and what freebees I should beable to ask for without looking like a complete joker would be appreciated!

Also did anyone get them to install their aftermarket exhaust? (Im thinking V&H).

shop around for finance yo'll never get a deal from the stealers, you wont get anything of the ticket price either,as there aint much profit for them in new byks esp sportys.if you want a deal by a used bike of em or better still get on fleabay or bike trader n buy private, youll save someŁŁ. but as most of the ****in used bikes in the uk esp hd's went to germany the used price is bloody high as well.
