Default Question for Big Twin bashers

Why does it seem that alot of sportster threads start bashing guys on bigger bikes. I am always reading those threads and they don't make alot of sense. I don't see alot of Big Twin riders complaining. I had a 1200C and I will not lie it was fun to ride, but didn't cut it as a full time bike. I ride about 20,000 miles a year and alot of that in a 100 mile round trip to work. I need the storage and weight of the bigger bike on the interstate. I also ride a softail deluxe and I enjoy the bike very much. They don't get blown around as much by the wind and my flht can cruise at 90 mph all day. Why don't all you sporty riders stop the bashing and just enjoy your bikes. It gets old.

its not me bashing. I LOVE the big twins as well. They are great. The only thing is the cost. The big twins are almost double the cost of a sportster. I would think it would have double the power. I have not been able to convince myself the extra cost is worth it just yet....but I am working on it.

If you were to do some 2-up Touring 250-350miles/day, you would convince yourself real fast that a winnabagger is worth the cost.

I agree with you. Most people that own sportsters dont tour very much. Some do. I think a good seat and a windshield on a sportster and I think you could log some serious miles as well. I think there are some people on here that put 20,000 miles a year on a sportster. I do about 8,000 a year.

Actually I have been thinking about getting a Sporty for some one up riding. As it is now I have to sneak out of the house to get off by myself as Kat loves to ride but I'm hoping that after a couple of rides she'll not be too comfy on a Sporty.

All Harley's are 'stronger' in some areas than others, depending on your preferences and the type of riding you do.

I've always been partial to lighter weight, high performance vehicles (in cars and bikes), and I don't ride 2-up, so my modified 1200C gets more riding time than my other bikes. I also travel light, and for the most part don't ride over 200 to 300 miles on daily trips, so the 1200C fits the bill.

I kind of compare my 1200C, Dyna WideGlide, and Road King to a Corvette, SS LT1 Impala, and a Cadallic...

Each has their place depending on my mood.

My wife doesn't ride with me on my Sporty much. Claims the fender pillion is too small for her ****. I told her the bike isn't going to get any bigger so there really is only one alternative.... Yeah, I haven't talked to her in a while since that...

My wife doesnt care to ride anyway. I like to ride by myself anyway because I get on the highway and pull the throttle all the back until the stopper hits....it doesnt get more fun than that!
