Hi just took my my sporty in for its first service at 1600km and the dealer said the next service is due at 4000km then 8000km and so on .but theowners manual say that the services are at 1600km then 8000km 16,000 who is right i dont want to be paying for services that are not needed and i dont want to void the warranty. the service cost is not cheap the first service just cost me $272.25au and the next service at 4000km will be $230.00au do i need to go to a harley dealer for my services or can i use any moterbike dealer if so will it void my warranty.

I have done all my services myself on both automobiles and Harley's and have never voided a warranty... but then again that is here in the U.S. Companies can not monopoli services... I don't really know about international... you would have to check
I just keep all my receipts showing the puchase of the oils and filters...

If I recall, my Sportster manual said 1,000 mi and 5,000 mi which I believe would be your 1600 & 8000 Ks. A lot of owners also change oil at 2500 mi (your 4000k roughly) but $230 for an oil change in any currency is HIGH. Spend the $60 to get the Service Manual and do it yourself!
