Tail light not working...

Tail light not working...
Just bought a new bulb and nothing happened. All the wiring seems to be ok. Front or back break... no lights. Any thoughts on what it could be? I have a HD 883 sportster. 2003.

Sound's like you need to check the fuse marked lights. Mine is a 15 amp one. The rear light circuit goes through it. At least on my 04. Let me know what you find out. I will do some more checking if it's not this.

I can't think of anything else it really sounds like you have a short somewhere which would most likely result in a blown fuse but if you say the fuse is fine and it is a new bulb I don't know what it could be other than maybe a random cut wire ? sorry i could't be more help

What make's you think it's a wire? Do you have a volt meter? I assume the running lights are working. Just break light? After taking a closer look, it appears the brake light circuit goes through the accessories fuse.

have not worked on a Sporty but my connection for my rear lights is right under the seat and it has the added brake,run box splice into to the connector. Since you did seat I would look under it carefully. should see harness going into rear fender

FYI....If that fuse is bad....your turn signals and horn will also not work as those switches are also provided with power by the same source.
GRF has a good point. The connector for the rear brake light is under the seat also...make sure you didn't pinch a red/yellow wire anywhere.
Also...if your running light is not working either than you should check the ground wire for that light cause that would control both the running and brake light.
