Default Conversion Kit Question (something different)

Currently having a 1250cc NRHS kit installed at a reputable Indy shop.

Got a call yesterday that they had to machine the lifter blocks for cylinder clearance. ? ( I have NO clue what that means )
I was a little baffled as I thought these kits are basically "BOLT ON" ???? Anyone experiance something similiar with these conversion kits. Don't want to bash NRHS or the Indy shop just want to know if this is a common thing ???

hey Karaoke... off-topic question... are you just replacing cylinders/pistons or are you also going to replace heads/cams? how much is the total cost of the kit conversion (kit + labor) ? thanks!

Best to ask directly to Dan at NRHS to find out.

This was one reason I went with the Screaming Eagle kit upgrade for now. Might not give the highest power, but gives me new heads that alleviates any scary things like what you described.

Joe just went with the kit ( stock heads and cams ) $700 for the kit plus about $500 in labor

You also have to do the fuel either remap or other ..I went with a power commander system

I just installed a NHRS 1250 kit in my shop on a customers bike.. only problem i had was that when putting the push rod base plates back onto the motor they would not fit.. It was a simple fix of grinding a little bit off the bottom fin of the jugs and everything went right into place. As for why they need to machine it I don't know. I'd ask to see the bill from the machine shop to make sure they are not taking advantage of you. just my .02

Machining the bottom fin is lowering the truck instead of raising the bridge. The "bridge" being the lifter blocks (push rod bases). The lifter blocks are at the opposite end of the push rods from the heads, so Harley's kit coming with new heads has nothing to do with it (other than getting new/different heads).
I'd be interested in hearing what Dan at NHRS says about their cylinders being fat at the bottom. Maybe it's just the iron lined aluminum cylinders. I haven't ordered any of his parts so I don't feel like I have the right to take his time asking. Let us know what you find out.

The 1250 kit I ordered from NRHS (last oct)already had the bottom 2 fins machined for clearance. I was prepared for this issue and was glad to see it already taken care of.
