I've been riding since June 03 and wish I hadn't waited 45 yrs to start riding! I started on a Honda Ace 750, then to my '04 Sporty1200C in Sept '05 and loved every one of the 16,000 miles I've put on it! I live in Tennessee, about 30 miles from The Dragon and The Cherohala, and have taken my Sporty on both and rode 1700 miles to Daytona Bike Week and back. My husband has an 883C and "We Live To Ride". I knew from the beginning I wanted my own ride, so I don't know what it's like to ride behind.......maybe when I'm 80 I'll find out! Until then, I'm a Harley Girl with 2 grandchildren who think their Mimi is pretty cool to ride a Harley!

I live in Fortville, IN. I have been riding since March 05. I started on a 2003 Honda Shadow 750 ACE. Then in June 05 I bought a 2005 Sportster 1200C. I just traded in the Sporty for a 2000 Dyna Wideglide.
I hate we're losing a hottie like Heather to a different bike but there are some other cuties riding Sportsters here..heck, all women that ride are pretty sexy to me...er, what was the question again?

First bike was the 2000 sporty that I got back in November 1999, after taking the msf. That was the only bike for a long time until I got the sportbike bug (in addition to the harley bug), so now I have a ninja and a street bob to keep the sporty company

Amy, 34.. from Mint Hill ( Charlotte),NC
I have been riding dirt bikes since I was 9 . My first street bike was a Kawasaki Ninga. I just bought my 2005 Sportster back around May and I am loving every minute of it.

Oh count me in...I'm on here and I always love reading the posts from the girls..Heather good luck with the new bike...and Brenda I feel like we are old friends...Amy..that's one sexy pic you got. And all the rest of you..I feel like we are all kinfolk. When I am riding around here and don't see too many women, I always wonder what people are looking at... I guess It's kind of a rarity.. a woman on a bike....but when I go to a bike event and I see all the women riding..I am proud of us and I smile at all of us knowing how wonderful it feels to ride...with friends, husbands and each other.

I have always been around bikes..Dad always rode, and back in the 70"s I rode a bit on some Triumphs and Honda's...but nothing legal...no license.. then onto the back of Harleys. When I first met my Husband he didn't ride , but then bought a Honda ACE..it was a nice bike and he liked it plenty till he rode his first Harley from Miami to Key West ..then he was hooked. After he bought the Road King I rode on the back but seeing more and more women riding I decided to look at the 1200L and ended up buying it back in May and doing MSF..it all came back to me...and now I can't stop. So maybe I am one of the older girls here at 54...but god I feel just like I did when I was 34...I guess I refuse to grow up. And I refuse to stop riding, every chance I get I try to encourage more and more women to start riding.

The other day I had a guy come up to my Husband and I as we were leaving a restaurant, he told us he had timed his exit so that he could come over and talk to us about convincing his wife to try to ride. After seeing my enthusiasm she said she would give it another try, she had tried it once and had dropped the bike, I told her lots of people drop bikes and not to let that stop her. I sure hope she gives it another try...it doesn't take long to get comfortable with it and feel like you are one with that machine.

Have fun...Pauline

Nice bike, Pauline! I'm not far behind you in age, I'm 48 and feel like I'm 28 because of riding! Like you, I love to encourage other ladies to try riding their own if the desire is there. Look forward to hearing from more lady riders...........

Another lady here I started out on a 1996 883 sporty back in 96. Then I moved my way up to a 1200, and absolutely loved it. I had to sell it when I had my son back in 98, but I've regretted it everyday since. So, for my 30th birthday this year I got a 35th anniversary Superglide. Best thing I've ever done! I am in love with this dyna. My husband got me into Harleys, I had previously been racing motocross and riding a Kawasaki street bike. I've never looked back! It's been a pleasure being a part of a great community like this forum.

I have enjoyed this thread, It's nice to see some of the faces connected to the names, I wish I could update some of my pics but I always have so much trouble resizing them to fit on here.
I wish you all lots of luck and happy riding. Tara I went to your myspace...very creative!!!
You really are a motorhead..I grew up in a garage, my Dad was a foreign car specialist and had some really great cars..(I got to clean them!!) But I love the smell of GOJO!!!

I have to tell you..I love all the white Sporties..I almost got white but then at the last minute switched to black...and lately the Roadster is really appealing to me, very often I see a bike and think to myself...I really would like to take that for a spin..I guess just to see what other bikes ride like..but I am so connected with mine..and I love her. I read this story in Hogtales about this guy who sold his bike a 2002 Road King.. her name was Stella and he bought a new Fat Boy...but pined for his old ride...so he tracked her down...she was being mistreated...and he bought her back..it was a real love story...Heather..how you doin so far??? I really felt for the guy..and for Stella. I guess I do believe these bikes have soul...What do you think? And if anybody can tell me a real easy way to re-size a JPEG image..please tell me.

And GAgirl good luck with the course, once you get past it and start to ride that bike won't seem as heavy it's just a matter of skill and balance and that will come with some time in the seat.

Pauline....I can tell you how to re size if you have a program called "Paint". It is really very easy. That's what I use. As a matter of fact, I just just had this conversation with my daughter last night.

Well, here goes:
1) Choose the picture you want to re size.
2) Right click on it (see pop up screen)
3) Select "Open with..."
4) Select "Paint" (the Paint screen with pop up with your picture in it)
5) In the tool bar, select "Image"
6) Select "Stretch & Skew
7) In the Stretch box (upper portion) type in 25% in both the horizontal and vertical boxes (the program will shrink that pricture to 25% of it's size)....You can shrink by any incriment you like, 25 is just an example
or
8) Go to the "attributes" and plunk in the size you want
9) Once you have found you have the picture in the size you want, go to "File" then "Save As" and name the resized picture

....and voila you now have smaller picture (more manageable for downloading)
