how many ladies here?
Another lady here
I started out on a 1996 883 sporty back in 96. Then I moved my way up to a 1200, and absolutely loved it. I had to sell it when I had my son back in 98, but I've regretted it everyday since. So, for my 30th birthday this year I got a 35th anniversary Superglide. Best thing I've ever done! I am in love with this dyna. My husband got me into Harleys, I had previously been racing motocross and riding a Kawasaki street bike. I've never looked back! It's been a pleasure being a part of a great community like this forum.Tara

I've been around bikes since I was 16. (Using toes and teeth to count the years .... not enough!!) Started on my own on minibikes, remember those people?? I guess I was 20 when I started riding something on my own. Eventually had my own bike and rode across Ca. Tried my ex's bigger bike and loved it ( it really is a matter of balance. You will notice the weight difference. If you can ride a small bike you can ride a bigger bike too!
) Lots of reasons made me get rid of my bike (divorce) and I thought I would never ride again, (Who the hell was I lying to?) so I let my license go. I always seemed to meet the bikers tho, so I was never without a throne to sit on. Fast forward to 2002. We started out with an '02 Sporty. Rode heck outa that thing. (Just to see if he REALLY wanted to get back into riding again) HD came out with a Heritage in 04 that was a beautiful Purple ....... now we had two bikes! The sporty was to be mine, I didn't like the forward controls, or they didn't like me!! So it went up for sale. In December of 04 we were at the dealership and we found a beautiful Dynalowrider. Regular foot controls as I was used to, I could upright the bike......... I knew I REALLY didn't want a sporty as I would tire of it to kwikly (just ask my ex how often I rode his bike once I realized I could!!) So it became mine in January of 05. I love it ....... but I still ride two up with my honey, and I know he doesn't mind!
I lived in the country on top of a mountain where a woman riding drew lots of gasps and oohs and ahs!! The male riders on the other hand thought it was pretty cool. I took my sweetie up there recently to show him where I rode, LOTS of twisties .... and an admission of "Something tells me you'll do just fine!"

Sorry I just realized this was a Sportster thread ....... my bad
No offense taken, to each HER own, just happy to get some girls together to talk about what they like. I can remember as a kid, when my dad had bikes and sports cars and he had a shop but he also wrenched at home a lot in our garage and there were always guy friends around him so it wasn't appropriate for me to be there with all the guy talk. So when he was gone I would always go in and fiddle around, he didn't have any sons so back then I was a bit of a tom boy and always needed his approval (never got it). So I tried and I tried to build a go-kart..I would take a long piece of wood and take apart baby carriages for the wheels and try to attach them so I could get something that resembled a go-cart, or I would work on my bike (bicycle).
I remember one Easter getting up early and putting on my Easter Dress and going out to the garage to work on my bike. I was going to spray paint the handle bars but the nozzle clogged and I poked it with a nail and then turned it toward me to see if it was unclogged...and it was, I sprayed painted my face, my hair and new Easter Dress all silver. I cried and cried and woke up my parents all the way in the house. I got my *** beat and had to sit in the car when every body else went to the Boardwalk to parade all the Easter Clothes. But it is a fond memory and reminds me how determined I was as a kid. I never did get that approval though and I lost my Dad to somebody elses family through divorce in my late teens and then again when he passed away some years back, he never did get to see me ride..but I'm sure he would have seen the tomboy in me that always searched for his attention and approval. I guess I always wanted to be able to do what the boys do but now I do it for me, it's just in the character I guess. My Husband says I'm hard headed and stubborn, but that's just because I have my eye on his Road King...just to ride it..not to re-paint it!!!
Have a Good Day and Shar thanks for the info, I'm gonna give it a try when I get a minute.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Yes it's the reach solo seat and I find it to be really comfy. i didn't have a problem with the stock seat I just wanted the look of the solo and wanted to be able to add a little chrome to the back with the little luggage rack, it comes in handy if I want to take a bag for the weekend.
Post a pic of your bike..I'd like to see it..we are going up to pick up my daughters bike tonight to store it for her for the winter.
Have you ever done Route 6 up in PA around Wellsboro and then westward??? Dan and I did a drive out there a few weeks back and now can't wait till we can take the bikes, it's an all weekend thing but the scenery is not to be believed, they call it PA's Grand Canyon.
Any of you ladies have a favorite ride..let us know.
And Brenda, thanks for the compliment
..you're too sweet!!! Pauline
