I am in desperate need of a solo seat now that I have my chopped rear fender on my bike. I have been reading a lot about the LePera Bare Bones. I love the look but am scared to death it will be uncomfortable as hell after riding for 30 minutes. I like the reduced reach solo's price but don't know if it is that much more comfortable than the Bare Bones. I like these two b/c they are in my price range. I would love to get a Brawler but it is just too much money. I usually go on a couple one hour rides during the week. it is rare I go on long trips. I will keep my current seat for long trips. Any opinions.....suggestions.....reviews would help me out!! Thanks so much!!!
I have a Bare Bones for an 04-06 Custom I'm selling and I also have the Solo seat you mentioned. I went with the Solo as I found myself sliding off the end of the Bare Bones as my bike is both jockey shifted and lowered in the rear.
I have an 09 custom so unfortunately the one you are selling won't work for me. Can you tell me how comfort differed (if any) between the two seats? Thanks!
I have a mustang vintage that I rode with for a year or so and wanted something that looked a little sleeker and got a bare bones. The mustang also rubbed my inner thigh a bit. the lepara is skinnier and does not bother my inner leg which is nice. it also sits lower. The bare bones is almost like your stock 2 up seat with the back cut off but a whole lot nice. I have road the bare bones for an hour and it is not that bad. You could have a gel cushion installed in it and it would be real nice. The problem with our bikes is that damn electric component they mounted under where the seat goes. They have to cut out almost 2 inches of cushion to fit that thing under the seat. Also the bare bones is not that expensive. If I were you I would try and find a place where you can sit down and try out a mustang day tripper. they look nice and I think they are more comfortable than the bare bones. that might be my next seat.
Thanks for the replies, they are definitely helping. My problem is my a** usually hurts after every ride unless it is 30-45 min. I do LOVE the look of the bare bones but would be so mad at myself if I got it and it was worse than what I have ridden on before. I will use it for around town riding and use my 2 up for long trips. I did read up on a couple things that said adding gel to the LePera Bare Bones doesn't really offer a more comfortable ride. I found that to be very interesting. And of course all it did was confuse me more on this decision!!! Ha
I have the regular reach solo on my XL50 and it's a nice seat and you can't beat the price. It's not as cool looking as the bare bones, but if comfortable. Still wanted to keep that sidekick seat?
