Optimal oil Temp?

While they may not be terribly accurate, I've generally found that they're individually very consistent. That is to say, that while one gauge may read 195 when another reads 205 for oil that's at the same temp, the first gauge will pretty much always read 195 at that temp and the second gauge will pretty much always read 205.

Once you get familiar with your own bike, you'll know where its gauges usually indicate and that can give you a very useful baseline.

My own experiences mirror Scuba's, but that may not be the case for everyone.

That is very true! We should be cautious when comparing bikes or studying the readings in great detail. If two of us get ten degrees difference in oil temp that could be down to the gauges.

So do you think the OP ever figured out his" optimal oil temp" over a year later?
