Just ordered a pair of X14iED's for the scoot. I know there are a couple of threads about them already but mosty are just questions about how they work. I opted for free shipping so i'm not sure how long it will be before they arrive but I'll be sure to post the install pics once they arrive.
Its SUPER easy, and the butt-dyno tells me that the 48 is definitely smoother, and I really didn't feel the rpm surge while riding on the freeway as I always have. It could be a placebo effect, but over he next few days I think I'll know for sure.
On my 48, one wire was on the left front down tube and the other was in front of the battery cover under a plastic cover. It takes less than a minute to install them.
I need to get a set of my 1200C here soon. The bike has Rush slip on's and SE AC, not sure if it has the Download in it and I know there is no tuner on it. The bike runs good and makes good power, but when I changed the plugs this past weekend they were whiter than I like. I got the bike used from a metric dealer so they did not know about tuning if any on the bike. I'm thinking batter safe than sorry and if I can make the bike run better for about $100 then that's a plus as well.
The funny thing is I have no clue what this item is or does. I know it's for the EFI bikes but that's about it. Why does it have such a stupid name?
It is an Injection Enrichment Device, thus the iED part of the name. This particular one is set to 14:1, rather than the factory 14.7:1. I don't know what the X stands for.
What is does is trick the EFI module into thinking you are leaner than you are, and so enriches the mixture.
