hello,
I am interested in getting an old sportster engine (just the engine) to rebuild and work on, and do not know where to look. I would like one that is non-operational that I could acquire for cheap and not have to worry whether or not I screw it up. I do not care what size I get but would prefer a 1200cc Evo.
can anyone help or have suggestions?

 

95 - 2003 are the best grabs for projects. Parts are plenty and they fit into twice as many frames as the 04 - 2011 models.

Hey guys dont want to jack the thread or anything but can some one tell me when the evo engine started and ended if it did end. I heard some one say that they ended. But i thought this was a fantastic engine.

 

'84-'99 for big twins
'86-current for sportsters
