forward control rattle fix
here is one for you all and HD engineers ... I don't mind the vibration on my 2005 883 but as a maintenace engineer I don't approve of designed in rattles ... so watching the new forward controls rattle really irked me ... so Sat I took them off and after 3 months also found rust under them on the support shafts ... not good long term ... it seems the grease I put in there washed out from front wheel throw from the couple of time I ran in the rain ... so thinking a little I looked in my shop for some felt I had for another project ... and I cut some nice round felt washers using a couple of sockets for guides to mark the cutting ... cleaned every thing before putting it all back together and a nice thumbful of grease ... no more rattle which on the shift lever might actually save some wear and tear and the oclusive seal think Dentucreame should keep the shafts from rusting after using waterproof boat axle grease to fill the felt. Just my 2 cents for maintenace ... keep riding and enjoy .
