Does anybody know where to get a good deal on some pipe wrap? I just took off my heat shields and want to get some soon. Also, please post some pics of your bike with the pipes wrapped
I love the look, but don't want to have to replace my exhaust every couple of years. Just something to think about!
Hm, that is quite interesting. To be honest though I am not worried about my pipes too much. They are just stock pipes and if it did ruin them after a few years, it would just motivate me to get some new pipes
There is a high temp pray on paint out there (forgot the brand...sorry) that you should spray on and let cure properly. The paint will protect the wrap from moisture and rot.
If you aren't worried about the pipes rusting (which they will, even if you paint them before you wrap), then just buy a ton of the 2" wrap and some hose clamps, and go to town.
It goes without saying but take the pipes off your bike to do this, it will make the whole process much easier. Clamp them in a vice (with padding) and use that to secure your pipes while you stretch the wrap and get it tightly wrapped.
This is a great thread. I've been wondering about the pros and cons of pipe wrap. I've heard from a couple of people that it only lasts a year or so, but I guess correct installation is a big part of that.
