Default Break in period

How did the dealer tell you to break in your bike.

They told me nothing over 50 mph for the first 100 miles and to varry the speed. Then nothing over 65mph untill 500miles.

The way I broke my bike was the same way I broke in my cars ride it now like your going to ride it when it has 50,000 miles. I think that the dealers and factory tells you to drive it like that because that's when most parts break and since you have a warranty they have to pay to fix it

This theory has never failed me before.

I read an article on breaking in a bike, it may have been a link posted here. Anyways I rode it like I stole it after the first 100 miles which was around the time I read the article. No probs so far. When I had the 1K service done the indy mech said no metal shavings and everything looked good. The article made some sense to me so I decided to go for it.

If I read correctly, after the first 100 miles it's ***** to the wall as long as it is below 5000 rpm.

Please do it like your dealer suggested, OR read your owners manual and do it. There's a reason for it. No offense to anyone listening, but do it like some of these experts and you may or you may not shorten the life of your motor. I've been to factory schools that go into great detail about about break-in periods and why they're so neccessary. Can I get a harumf from someone? Just my .02.

The dealer told me to drive under 2500 rpm's at different speeds for the first 250 miles. After that, drive!
