Default dyna vs 1200?

ok guys somethings been getting me thinking and i want to know if it legit. ok me(1200 custom) and my bro(96ci street bob) like to talk friendly ****. well me and him one day rolled out on the back road highways. well we lined up and i have to say he didnt pull me and i didnt pull him. now my question is.....

is this correct for a stock 1200?

my bike has a t88c, s&s cleaner, and short shots at the time.
his bike is stage one hd cleaner and v&h big radius pipes.

what makes me ask is my dads friend road my bike and he came back with a big **** grin telling me that my bike is no stock sportster. i bought my bike from a guy that had did alot of work to it already but never said anything about motor work.

It almost comes down to who gets the best start. I think my old sportster would have my current dyna from the start and I think my dyna would pass it after about 50 or 60mph. Don't know for sure, but thats what it feels like.

The power-to-weight ratio is one of the biggest advantages of the Sportster lineup ... as noted, I think the 96" Dyna has a little better staying power ....

It's not stock if it has air cleaner and short shots. Doesn't mean it has motor work done.

as surfor says its the power to weight ratio that favors the sporty... my riding buddy rode his dyna from L.A. to Sturgis, to NY to Miami to Texas and back to L.A. (so pretty much the entire country) and his only comment to me was that he would have preferred to have had my bike because of the power to weight ratio.
surprised me cause i would have thought that the heavier more powerful bike would have had the advantage (if it was me i would prefer the ultra, but that wasnt in the choices!!)

On a bike, the weight of the rider makes a difference.

In a Sportster vs Dyna matchup the winner would likely come down to the better rider.
There is less than a 5 hp difference between the 1200 sportster and the TC-96. The Dyna has a torque advantage but the sportster is 100 lbs lighter. Thanks to it's lighter weight and shorter wheelbase it's tough to launch a sportster from a dead stop without the front wheel getting airborne so getting a jump on the dyna would be tricky. If you bolted wheelie bars to the sportster I think the dyna would be toast. The sportster has more drag strip friendly gearing and better power to weight but I think in the end it would come down to the rider. Magazine tests show both bikes running low 13's in the 1/4 mile which isn't bad except that's no faster then a stock ironhead sportster (XLCH1000) ran back in 1973.
