Default Quick Sporty Question

I am considering a 2006/2007 Sportster 883. I am leaning toward the Customer, in part because I find the forward foot controls more comfortable. However, I haven't asked the dealers this yet: Can the break and shifter be moved forward on the other 883 models?

Also, is there any real difference between the 2006 vs 2007? I haven't seen anything in the literature.

Thanks!

There are forward controls for the other models, I believe they can be pricey. Go with the Custom if want the bigger gas tank.

Yeah, I guess it would be cheaper to trade out the rims than change the control position and upgrade to a 4.5 gallon tank.

THanks!

Difference? The 07 is fuel injected while the 06 is carburated. As far as I know everything else is the same.

Off the top of my head, I believe the forward control kit for the other Sportsters is around $375. And of course that doesn't include installation.

Other than Fuel Injection all the other changes from 07 to 06 are minor. Things like improved LED indicator lights, a sacrificial metal peg that sticks down from the footpegs (that's to warn you're about to scrape the pegs and or pipes). The 07's have black "jiffy stand" instead of chrome. I think there are a couple of other little changes like that, but I haven't had enough caffiene this morning to remember them.

Personally, I would rather have the 07. I'm just really tired of all the carb related issues. Also as a result of Fuel injection, the MoCo was able to open up the airflow a bit. So the stock exhaust has a slightly better sound than the 06 models. Still probably not an exhaust you'd want to keep forever.

Yes, the controls can be changed to forward controls on the other modesl.

The biggest diff between 2006 and 2007 is that starting in 07 the bikes are fuel injected. The 07 883 also has more power than the 06 883.
