"How many with saddlebags have the brackets? I want some for occasional use and was wondering if resting on the rear coils for occasional use would be okay."
Resting on shock coils is OK, getting them flung into the rear wheel or drive belt is a no-no if you value your life or body. I use Easy Brackets - quick on, quick off...
I picked up a set off ebay from some place with half a dozen for sale with buy it now - less than 50 bucks with shipping. They are basic and i did have to go through and reinforce the corners with pop rivets when I got a bit close pullin into the back yard - they caught the gate and the sewing let loose.
they rest on the shocks - there is no way they would ever get caught in the rear sprocket, drive belt or tire. they are a very stiff leather and kinda mold themselves around the shock over time - they may occasionally rub the rear sprocket so a bracket to hold um off would be good - but it is up to you - I hate how they look - but I cant help needing them - I only have 2 hands
