Default do you see anything wrong?

i recently bought this '08 sporty 1200R, and the guy was upfront and told me i need to replace the front fork.. im taking the riders course in 2 weeks so i cant just ride this to the shop.. in the meanwhile, id like to know if its roadworthy as it sits.. or how bad it is.. any help/advice is very welcome..
the bike sits as straight as can be, it looks to me like the tire points to a side, i rode it around the block a bit and it doesnt ride straight ..

looks tweaked to me, does it have a clear title? I wouldn't ride it till you replace the forks. Are the triples straight?

the very top of the forks, they actually hold the forks, you slide the forks into them.

Looks tweaked to me, when I worked on bikes and if the forks were not bent we would loosen the upper triple tree put the tire against a pole while sitting on the bike then "twist or turn" the handle bars till it looked straight then tighten everything back up.

In your case I would put the left side of the tire against something solid then turn the bars the same direction till it lined up, assuming nothing is bent.

To adjust the triple tree you will need to loosen the bolts on each side of the upper fork tube mount, this is the one your handle bars attach to, just a little bit so that you can relocate the upper portion of the forks to align the front wheel. As stated above you can place the front tire against something that will not move and while sitting on the bike grasp the handle bars and twist/tweak them in the direction the wheel is turning in to. You might have to go past the alignment point a little to take up any rebound you will get when you twist the handle bar.

You might also want to look into purchasing the factory maintenance manual as this will give you all the torques and the nomenclature of all of the parts on your Harley.

Here is a link to a web site that has the IPC, Illistrated Parts Catalog, for your bike. This helps alot in findng the part numbers and the location of these parts. http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....?Type=12&A=503

Also welcome to the forum.

Man, no one can judge what you are asking from pictures, especially not from crappy cell phone pics turned on their side.

Take it to a shop for an inspection.

If I bought a sporty and the previous owner told me the forks needed to be replaced, first, I would believe him, secondly, I certainly wouldn't ride it anywhere and would learn to replace the forks myself. I also would have asked him what he hit to tweek them. Weren't you curious to what happened?
