Thanks chemist. I've learned so much from everyone here I feel like it's the least I can do to try and document my lessons learned during this process. CTFS...or at least make it your own as best you can.

***** man, I thought I was following that. Sorry. Last I remember you got your fender from Rene. That was before I went on the road for a week and was trying to stay updated on everything with my droid. Sucked. Ok, I'm up to speed now but for some reason the thumbnails on your thread won't open up on my machine. I get the gist though. Looks outstanding!

Attention to detail on the bike is incredible.

1 question, are you still runnin 150/80 front and back?

I wanted to do the same on my 48 but wasn't sure it is a good idea or if it would look weird...

Thanks Sticky. Interesting, the way this has rolled out since October, there are a lot of things I would have done differently. Originally, this was going to be a simple fat front end conversion with an additional few minor modifications (coil relocate, tank lift, license plate bracket, etc) and powder coat the frame. Over time it evolved into this major custom (re)build, almost soup to nuts. Attention to detail...I should have had a better plan. That's a pretty important detail to overlook. But not saying that it isn't turning out great, because I think it is.

I've got 16" Avon Venom 150/80's front and rear. I like the look of the same size tire on the front and back. Opinions vary...

Wow, it's looking awesome.
Sorry if I've missed the boat on this one but with regards to your hardware have you come across pro-bolt.com? I've never had any dealings with them personally, so I can't vouch for the service they provide or the quality of their products. They do seem a little on the expensive side though. Rusty and corroded fasteners are one of my personal gripes. At some point I'd like to replace all the fasteners on my Nightster but the thought of sourcing all the different shapes and sizes gives me a headache just thinking about it

Thanks elvis. Appreciate the link. Lots of interesting bolt work on there. Only problem is I didn't see any SAE stuff, only metric. [edit: They do have some Harley stuff but it looks mostly like motor and wheel hardware]. But it's another source. The hardware issue has been a tedious one for me. The motor was easy - just bought the ss kit and pretty much everything was in there. But there are lots of other nuts and bolts on a motorcycle and finding all the right sizes and configurations ain't easy.

Here's the bike as of last night. I put the forwards on it, including all the linkages. And just because I couldn't resist, I popped the tank on briefly. That, of course, along with the fender still needs paint, and I'm working on that...
