Ok I think I done did it now.... This newb goofed.... please don't kill me!
i failed to remove the upside down plugs before I attempted to rotate engine by hand and well you guessed it it smacked into the top of the plug and snapped it clean off into the engine....both sides.....Now I ask you pros out there will a shop vac work to suck it out or do I have to pull the heads?......
Please help....Let the scolding begin......
I know I know I'm not worthy.... sniff... OK I tried the vacuum trick.... shop vac sucks ****..... so I had to take top end off..... here is the pistons I saw after removing the spark plug piece..... EWWWWW!
the 2 yellow circles in pic..... aren'y these supposed to be attached to the nut going into the top end?......
What should I do next should I replace pistons? they look a lil burnt or maybe just clean them up..... (working on a non existent budget for all this lol)
K how much are you wanting to dig into this motor? I would of tried to get the pieces out a little more rather than taking it apart
I got all the pieces out!
just wondering what I should do next.... think justa good cleaning or replacing?, I think the pistons are good they glide up/down smoothly with good compression I don't know much about bikes its a learn as I go process hopefully without any MF'R GD or SOB's LOL or the classic UH OH SHT!
I did try everything I could think of I'm kinda glad I took top off there was a little spring and carbon rod from plug in there that I would never have thought to look for even if i got the piece out I would have stopped there and that would have left two very damaging pieces in the engine...... The Bike gods were looking out for me this time!
My budget....lol whats that.....lol ok what is the best way to clean the pistons and do I have to remove them (Cringing) i was also thinking about polishing the boxes while they are off but I don't know if I have the competence or patience to do the task required.... and i checked there is no high heat chrome spray.....I could always black out the engine like the new shadow model but wheres the wow factor in that....any thoughts?
No there is no high temp chrome paint, you could have them dipped but i wouldn't recommend it, as far as polishing or painting.... either way you have to get them cleaned up, simple green and some time generally does the trick, I am sure there is a few thousand other ideas you can google it and find a bunch, as far as cleaning pistons, gas, stater fluid, carb cleaner, you get the idea, needs to be harsh enough to get the carbon off, if you where careful maybe a wire wheel, but a wire brush will help too. just don't go digging grooves into it.
Well, I have heard of some different methods of removing carbon.
Start adding seafoam to your gas. It will slowly clean things up.
Run the bike so its nice and warm, get a misting spray bottle and with the air filter removed rev the engine a little and mist into the intake, try not to stall the bike. The steam will get at the carbon.
Another method I heard about but have my doubts about is to rev the bike and let it suck dry rice out of your hand. The rice will scouer the inside of the cylinder and blow out the pipe. I have my doubts bout that on.
