So, it is now time to get a new battery. I was looking at the gel batteries and wondered if anyone was running them on a Sportster? Will there be an advantage in putting one of these on? Anyone with info, I would appreciate your input. Thanx all.
I'm all about finding better alternatives than HD products. In this case, after a lot of input from more knowledgeable folks than me... Stick with the HD battery.
The AGM or Gel batteries will last longer and generally hold their charge better. That comes at something like twice the price of a sealed battery. For the most part, the maintenance-free batteries like the one that comes with most modern bikes is perfectly fine.
Typically, the AGM/Gel batteries are used when battery mounting locations are custom and there are extreme forces that would cause the electrolyte to move around. (i.e. Racing/off-roading)
