I recently put some SE I pipes on my 1200 Sporty and when I bought them I believed them to be loud enough for my taste. You may know the deal..."I don't want them to be too loud because I live in the neighborhood, but I want it to sound like a Harley, etc. etc. etc." so I bought the SE's.
Now, here I am with a *new* set of pipes that I like but maybe don't love. I know nothing about messing with baffles or about getting more out of your existing pipes, but if anyone can talk to me about how to get more out of these pipes I'd appreciate it.
I'm not buying new pipes...that's for sure. So if there isn't a solution, that's cool. But if there's a way to get more out of what I have I'm all about it!
Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Why not remove the baffles from your slip ons? There should be 2. An inner removeable one and an outer muffler one. The SE's I've done needed to be punched out.
If you still have your stock slip-ons you can look at this video and modify them to be quite a bit louder...you may just like them better than the SE, and it will cost next to nothing to try it out.
Check out big city thunder. The sell baffles and they might just be the ticket for you. Louder and deeper. Might even get a lil snap, crackle, growl, pop if you don't adjust your map. Price is right before you dump the pipes and start over.

BCT baffles didn't make my pipes louder - granted they were not SE slip-ons, I had V&H Straight Shots - and adding the BCT original baffles in did not increase the sound level compared to no baffles at all; it made it sound quieter and deeper.
Why don't you sell your pipes and get a cheap set of Cycle Shack's? That's gonna be louder man lol.
Yeah the SE slip on's suck!!!!! LOL!!!! There was a set on my bike when I got it and I played with them to no end and then got rid of them for real pipes. If you pull the baffles you will see holes and also what looks like a ramp. Take a 1/2" drill bit and make 2 holes in each ramp, then drill the holes that are already there out wiht the 1/2" bit. This will make them sound better, but not crazy loud.
