Default Tank removal/Ignition relocation Questions

Before I get into my questions/problems here is my end goal: New ignition not located on tank and new speedo. The new tank im looking at is going to be the stock "peanut" style tank (3.3gallon)

As the title says i have a few questions here. My bike is a 1997 XLH Hugger that has been converted to a 1200. It has had several owners so i have no manual for it. The tank seems to be not what was originally on it. I only say that because i have never seen this type of tank on a sportster before.

Here is the tank: I wanna say its a fat bob style? correct me if im wrong.

Now I have the tank all removed, but now I have the issue of figuring out what i need to replace my ignition switch since I plan on getting a new tank without the cluster on the tank. Really what is scaring me is all the wires that i seem to have hanging around now.

I am trying to simplify the bike a bit i guess, more of a "bobber" style and i really just want my ignition to be off to the side (like how the fuel switch is), and have a speedo that i also want off to the side instead of in-between the handel bars. So basically i dont need the neutral light or any of the extra stuff. I mean if anyone has a gage cluster with the ignition combined that is kind of low profile with a neutral light and all that stuff that would attach to the handel bars i would love to see what you recommend just because im not set on having the ignition and speedo on the left side, its just the idea thats in my head right now. I am open to any ideas basically.

I really just want to be pushed in the right direction here. Pictures of where your ignition is located whether it is stock or not is appreciated. I really only have my bike to go off of for ideas so Im not sure how or where to attach a new ignition.

Here are my scary wire pictures. Im not sure what was added to it and what is original. If you can kind of point out what i need and dont need that would be great, but if not its fine, i can figure it out, but it would help a lot.
(sorry if some of the pictures are not great)
here are the wires when they were still attached to the tank, the ignition switch is off to the right for reference.

These are the wires left on the tank after i disconnected most of them. The quick connect there i believe is what connects to the actual ignition.

On the left is the other end to the ignition connection, and the right is the connection to the speedo. These ends are what is still wired into the bike.

Here is another look at all the wires still connected to the bike. sorry for the bad angle

So after thinking and looking over this i want to say that maybe these wires are kind of extra? these are just for the connections to the actual ignition switch on the tank i think???

If you need any more info to give me a hand here let me know. I am trying to give as much info as i can for you guys.

Just to make sure we are all on the same page here still my plan is to remount a speedo since my new tank is not going to have that same cluster, and remount the ignition somewhere.

Any pictures of what you have, brands you like or recommend, different set ups you think will work would be great!

I have read over this about 10 times haha so hopefully my bad grammer isnt to confusing.

Thanks a lot I appreciate it

Why not get the stock ignition switch from a dealer? Then you can mount it in the original stock position, or get a F6 ignition Relo kit.

Here is a link that will help you with your wiring.

Cool, I forgot to mention...did you order just the switch, or did you also order the housing for the switch also so you have a way to mount it?

Got my new ignition on! thought it was going to be a lot harder since i wasnt sure what was changed on it before i even got it but everything works great. It was just the 3 wires i had to splice together and that was it. i was worried my headlight and blinkers wouldnt work since the other ignition had a ton more wires and stuff. Here is it though, im pretty happy with how it turned out.

Now I am just waiting on my new tank to come in.
