My DIY 1250 conversion thread: EFI version
This thread was my bible while installing my 1250kit!!! Today I finished & started her up. She started up just fine but keeps stalling after 35-45 seconds (4x now)...after the 4th stall I noticed some smoke coming from front rocker! Possibly through my front exhaust. Replacing the gaskets today! Any idea if this smoke is normal or what it may be?
Anyone have any tips???

Since you are using the Cobra I am assuming it is EFI. Did you install the stage 1 download from HD? If you are trying to use your Cobra with the old 883 fuel map that was on your ECM you will have problems. The Cobra does not adjust your timing and if you are using the old 883 map your timing is wrong. From reading my thread you know that I used the SEPST for tuning my bike. Before I started it for the first time I reflashed the ECM with the Stage 1 map that came with my SEPST software CD so that my timing, and fuel management were close from the start.
Please let me know if you are using the 883 map.

What pipes and AC are you using, are they stage one? I am sure there are several options for making the necessary tuning changes you need but I am only familiar with the SEPST. One option would be to take your bike to the HD dealer and have them install the 1200 stage one download. Depending on what this costs it might be an option for you. Up here in canada it was too expensive, $300. I have heard it is quite a bit cheaper in the states, you can phone and find out. The HD stage one will give you the map you need to safely start and run your bike but the dealer will have to install it.
You can have the hd dealer or someone else tune your bike but you don't want to dyno tune it until after the break in and the stage one download will get you through the break in period.
another option is to do what I did and buy the SEPST, cables and software which are sold seperatley (about $500 in the states) then you can install the stage one download yourself and start smart tuning your bike, this is what I have done and it has worked great and was very easy to do. this option is great if you plan on doing any other mods in the future like cams and heads because you will not need to spend any more money in the future on tuning.
Other tuning options are out there, I am not too familiar with them. You could search the forum or maybe someone else will comment on here for you.
I think the PCV is an option but I am not a fan of piggyback tuning devices.
What conversion kit did you buy? maybe ask who you bought it from for some tuning solutions.
I would suggest that you do not start or run your bike any more until you get this tuning figured out.
