I bought my SEPST as a set off of EBay. If you buy off ebay, make sure you do not buy used! it has to be new as a SEPST "marries" to a bike and can only be used on that bike. Get that 1200 stage one map installed and you will be good to go.

I should add that if you are going to get your own SEPST, you need a laptop or a PC running vista or 7 that you can get near enough to your bike to use the software.

Sorry for a slight off topic question but, how did you get the mirrors on the bottom without relocating the turn signals? may have to take a closer look but I believe on mine (11 883N) They interfere with each other.

Otherwise great writeup. Hopefully I can make use of it next winter.

I do not have the stock mirrors as you can see and they fit no problem when I flipped them.

That being said, you can flip the stock mirrors without much trouble as well. Most people have no problems flipping the stock mirrors but there can be a few issues. Yes, you will need to re align your turn signals. Just use the right sized allen key, loosen your turn signals a bit so they move in their current position. When you flip your mirrors pay careful attention to the left mirror, it will be extremely close to the tank if not hitting it when you turn your bars to the left as far as they will go. Carefully adjust the left mirror so that it does not hit the tank in the proper viewing position when you turn your bars to the left. The right mirror should be no problem. If you cannot get the left mirror in the proper viewing position without hitting the tank, loosen the left side control which houses the mirror mount and clutch lever and rotate the control slightly until the mirror does not hit the tank, that is what I had to do when I had stock mirrors. Once the mirrors are where you want them go back to your turn signals, adjust them so they are sitting where you want and tighten them down. Now you are good to go.

hmmmm.... any chance that he iron came with a different handlebar setup? The mirror hole (which goes through) is directly above the turn signal light. I ordered the clymer manual though so maybe I will just take the whole mess apart and see if I can finagle it.

I'm pretty sure your bars are the same as mine and others. Just loosen the recessed allen bolt that faces forward by your mirror mount and your turn signals will move to the side so you can mount your mirrors underneath your bars.

I had planned on doing the same thing with my iron but everyone says just buy a bigger bike. Let me know how it runs once your done and if it was worth it.

Plenty of older threads about this mod, so use 'search' for 1250 or NRHS to read through a few. You will get much more with this upgrade than simply buying a normal 1200 Sporty.
