00 Sporty. It's my first time adjusting the clutch. I took all the slack out of clutch lever, open up the clutch inspection cover, and back the set screw counter clockwise all the way until i couldn't no more. I turn the set screw 1/4 clockwise and went back to adjust the lever. I tighten it up too tight the wrong way, my fault. However, I open it back up and turn the clutch pack screw clockwise until I couldn't no more. Then I turn the set screw back 1/4 and check the ferrule and bracket; there was about a 1/4 in between.
Does anyone have any suggestions and/or could help me out.
Below is for a Softail and NOT a Sporty. Appears Sporty is totally different on direction
May be reading this wrong but I think you went wrong way with cable. Break the lock nut on the cable length and screw it in to make the cable slack. Should have 1/4 or so freeplay at lever. Now break clutch nut and screw adjuster screw in till it bottoms plus one turn to deburr threads and then back out and in till it touches. Squeeze clutch lever couple times and screw the screw out and back a few time till you get the sence its just touching. This helps you realize its just touching and not actually screwing the clutch in. Now back off proper minimum amount and lock the lock nut. Do not have torque but it's not a lot. Now screw the cable length back out to get your free play at lever and lock the nut. Fasten the cable back, turn bars lock to lock and check free play at both side. Keep it to minimum at tights place. This will get you a good clutch action so it engages as lever comes off bar. Not way out. Do have to check free play more often here.

Reason: Errors
I think you turn it too tight. Try to loosen it all the way, then turn it counterclock wise until you feel a slight resistance. then turn it back 1/4
Thanks for getting back to me. I am able to pull the clutch in and put it in gear but it wont engaged. I did notice when i put it in gear theres a loud clunk louder then usually.
Thanks for all the feed back. Figure it out. Just started from scratch again.Only thing there was a loud clunk going to neutral to first gear but took it out anyway and sure enough it went away. thanks again.
