Tachometer for 48

Any out there.? HD don,t show one in the accessory catalog. Any 48 owners install one.? Any pictures of em on there 48's? Thanks Carl

Just curious, but why do you want a tach? Seems like a waste of money to me.

Wildthang has one on his but IMO having one is worthless and like the above poster said a waste of money.

I like the XR1200's tach but they're so expensive. I got quoted $400 for parts.

I honestly agree with all replies- one of the charms of the 48 is no tach. Shift by feel of the motor.

Old school. Cool. FWIW

I'd be interested to know since I have a Superlow that doesn't have a tach either. I'd rather not shift by any feel if I can help it. I guess old school doesn't appeal to me at all.

I am thinking of going to the Dakota Digital unit which has the tach also

I just like to know what R.P.M. the Engine is doing at idle. During start up warm up. I like to run and shift 2800 to 3000 RPM. When I ride hard see how close I am to red line. I take a Tach over a speedo. Will the XR1200 work the harnes looks way different. I put a Tach kit from HD on a 09 XL883L it was plug and play. XR 1200 speedo and Tach combo to me wont hurt the look of the 48 as the Tach is a small one. Not over powering.

dakota digital make a unit specifically for sportsters that replaces the speedo with a digital display and light bar tach, it's a great option because it's a direct plug -in for 2004 & newer bikes, no wiring required. look it up.

There also some small digital tachs out there that can mount on your master cylinder for around $150.

there are also some small bullet style tachs that you may be able to use.

keeping looking around, you have options.
