I was browsing through the xl forum and found a sticky thread for an error listed in the factory service manual for 2008 - 2011.
It's regarding the primary chain inspection cover, which some of us may use to dump oil into the primary/tranny instead of taking off the clutch inspection cover.
Checked my bike and noticed those screws were on there too tight from my last maintenance and stripped one of them trying to get it off. Luckily, I was able to use a torx bit and get the stripped screw out (hex screw seemed to be metric) and readjusted to correct 40-60 in-lbs
Figured I'd share as this can cause major problems.
