Default Fender bibs: functional or purely cosmetic?

Sorry for the dumb question for this is my first cruiser and new to customizing. Are there any uses for a fender bib?

I got mine to cover the scratches left by the stock seat.

Those are nice. I just got the one that matched my seat from Mustang.

Can be either. I chose no tank or fender bib. Just another place for dirt to get under and scratch stuff and why hide your paint.

I'm looking at getting one at the same time I pick up a sissy bar that will hold my computer bag. I don't want the bag sitting on the fender.

I would consider this for my 1200R as the stock seat has left some blemishes. Most likely this is the reason most bibs are bought.

no. there are no uses and soon after buying the bib, you'll be buying this stuff:

really? people buy them to hide scratches? idk man, a few scratches gives my bike some character and wouldn't put something as ugly as that **** on my fender. i'd repaint if it bothered me that much before getting a "bib".
