Hello all and thanks in advance.
I have a 2003 XL1200C that has stage 1. The problem is that every other time I start it #2 cylinder back fires very loudly then it starts up and purrs like a Harley should, sometimes on a cold start it will start with out #2 cylinder back firing, whoever #2 cylinder is not firing untill I crack the throttle or it warms up. Is it the carb, spark plug wires or coil,or could it be a timing problem.
again Thanks.
Are you twisting the throttle before you start the bike or as you start it? Sometimes the accelerator pump will shoot fuel in there and you'll end up with a big pop when it starts at first.
Don't use any throttle on a cold start. Just pull the choke out and hit the starter. Should start right up.
Thanks for the help, and you are right. I found out that the chock cable was the problem, The plastic threaded piece that secures the chock *** was cracked, which was allowing the **** to move and load up the carb. Thanks again
