Raised headlight visor
My plan was to use the Crime Scene Choppers mount and a new bottom mount, (hopefully stock 48 so I could reuse my powder coated trim ring) but that's an expensive route for not getting a lighting upgrade, and it looks tight using this bracket as far as adjustment goes. I do like the placement though.
I then decided the Joker mount, as expensive as it is, looks great and will pair well with the riser, but again no improvement in lighting and being even more minimalistic than the stock visor, it would really make my riser setup look odd.
I decided all I needed to do was to raise the Joker bracket a half inch or so for drastic visual improvement, but again it's so minimal that any spacer would stick out like a sore thumb. In looking at the ugly stock visor, I found that it had just enough there to conceal the spacers and it's lines would look a LOT better while also providing more access to the fork bag and cleaning up that cramped area up front. The Superbrace, gators, fork bag, relo signals, and headlight were all smashed together on the front end leaving my riser sitting out there out of place.
I took a stock bolt and washer with me to the hardware store and got 2" 5/16" stainless allen bolts and perfect factory match washers, which turned out to be heat treated 5/16" size (thick) washers. I stacked 10 of em for 5/8" rise, then 16 for 1", then dropped it back down to 14 for a 7/8" rise over stock. It's rock solid and IMO a big yet subtle improvement to appearance, and hopefully a little better lighting since my fork bag would obscure the lower 1" of the headlight lens. The more exposed top clamp also looks nice, and the light bucket flows with the lines of the 2" raised tank better as well. I even got more clearance for the clutch cable where it use to rub the housing. Bonus.
What do you think?
