Well I finally got my Bassani Sweepers installed today; they sound amazing, but I have only got to hear it idle, because of stupid rain!
But I had a couple of questions, if you all can help me?? The forward pipe is very close to the air box, Bassani recommeds trimming it, but couldn't I just put some exhaust wrap on it until I get a new style air intake???
and fitment didn't seem that great, where the pipes mount to the motor, I didn't get a whole lot of thread engagement; the pipes are on tight, just didn't seem like enough.
But other than that, I love the look of them! Let me know your thoughts!
hey man, I have the same pipes, I believe you have to do something about the air intake in order for it to fit safely away from the pipes. look at the air intake I have in my profile picture.
Another thing that you might face is passenger pegs won't fit good with the original brackets, so you'll need an offset bracket for the pipes side to relocate the passenger pegs higher and more to the back of the pipes.
I'm currently working on the pegs issue but for the air intake you could go with anything that is higher that the stock like the heavy breather one.
I just installed these on my iron this weekend and I didnt trim down the air filter. Yes, it has begun melting it away a little but im not worried about it because soon I will have a screaming eagle heavy breather on there. The only bolt I couldnt thread that much was the lower front one. All the other three I got a good amount of threads to engage. It took about 10 times readjusting the pipes to the right angle for me to get it.
The Stage 1 H-D air cleaner back plate does away with the plastic surround and snorkel on the stock air cleaner. No clearance issues after changing. Bassani recommends the H-D Screamin' Eagle exhaust gaskets Pt.# 17048-98 with the Radial Swreepers. Its a square cut gasket, not cone shaped like stock and lets the pipe fit a little farther inside the exhaust port.
