Hey guys, I decided that I want to get either apes or Z Bars but seeing how it's going to be my first time ever using them I have a few questions I'd liked answered before I buy. I'm just under 6' and I'm concerned about my arms going numb after extended periods of riding. So my first question is what's a good height for the apes/Z bars to be at? Shoulder height, just under shoulder height, etc. Second question is how to reduce vibration of the handlebars if I encounter that problem?(I don't want my hands going numb either) Third question, is narrow style or wide style more comfortable? I would think wide style is more comfortable for the wrist but depending on the pull back it might strain the back and narrow style would be enough pull back for the back to be comfortable but then the wrists look like they are being bent weird but again I don't know anything about these bars so I need comments about each style. Last question is does anyone has pictures of their motorcycle with a wide style or narrow style ape/z bar with themselves on it?(trying to visually see arms and hands in a comfortable position) If you do post a picture of yourself with apes/ z bars please be very specific on if it's a wide style or narrow style and height of the bars and what risers you have, and the pull back. I'd like to keep the bars under 30" wide tip to tip so that I can split lanes with no problems. Thanks in advance for all of your replies guys!

I had a set of Biltwell Keystone bars. Most uncomfortable things ever. If I had longer arms they probably wouldn't have been so bad. They were also narrow which i thought was part of their problem.
I road with them on for 2 days then went back to stock bars.
I am not sure what type bars these are on my bike the are just about eye level for me being 5' 8" they are pretty comfortable i ride 50 miles one way to work with no problems could easily do 100 miles with out a break. But l dont know what brand they are or if they were a one off custom like I have found my pipes to be.
Like your Z-bars! Question did you have to use any cable extension for the 10" and if you did what cables, any information will be appreciated. Thank you...
The only cable I replaced was the front brake cable. I bought a black steal braided "build your own" kit through Magnum Shielding. It came in a 6ft line and I used 90 degree banjo bolts($55). Just measured how much I needed and cut it to size. I would have to re-measure my line again to see what I ended up at. I think it was like 34" or so. I used all the other stock cables, just cut a few cable ties and moved them up over the front tank mount bolt(stock was under the tank bolt) to get a little more length out of them.

Glad to help! I can measure my cable Monday or Tuesday to get a better measurement for you. Sorry, I don't keep my bike at my house(No garage). If you have anymore questions, ask away or pm me.
