just got a 07!
well i just got her a few hours ago.
2007 Sportster. really great seller, he gave me his business card and said if i have any questions ever to call him, and i mentioned im going to be doing a few things to it over the winter so he wants to see the mods ido to it.
really looking forward to getting out on her in the next week or so. i have to set up my insurance and plates on my next day off.
then i can start to order some new parts....i cant believe how high the rear end is.
im going to lift the leather on the seat and put a gel or some other sort of soft liner in it. looks like its just stapled down, shouldnt be too hard, i saw another thread where the seat was too long for someone else's tank and they just took it apart and cut some plastic out then stapled it back together.
i would love to see a pic.
im trying to decide what way i want to go with this. i like the stock seat, but im open to others. i know 07-09 (i think 09) has the ecu under the seat, which limits the aftermarket fenders and seats.
i have found a stock rear fender used that i was thinking of buying so i can chop it, then rewire my signals so they are brake lights, but i would like to add another centre brake light of some sort that is under the fender.
plate relocation is also something i need to get done, im going to have someone make one for me, and i would like to get rid of a lot of the chrome. probably going to give plasti-dip a try and if it works out ill shoot some on the harley. apparently that stuff works great over chrome.
obviously a sportster 883, but my ownership just says "X88"
is it s XL883?
my insurance company was asking and i just said well i know its not a 883 low..
and what size fuel tank is it? 3.5g?
i get my shop manual and the mustang 2-up seat in a couple days... i probably wont ride with it unless im picking up a girl (after i log a few km on the bike)...just dont like the look of it, but its part of the bike and accessories deal we worked out.
do you think the memory foam is better than a gel pad?
if i do the memort foam ill be doing a little trimming where your tail bone sits.
i was on a bike for 8 hrs today (rider training...its been 6 years since ive been on a bike so figured its never a bad idea to get more knowlege, even if youve taken the course before they get a lot of people coming back just to get to basics.)
and those seats are HARD. came home and went straight to the hottub with a montecristo and hennassay.
