I'm in need of some trouble shooting help, a good friend of mine has an 07 xl 1200, two weeks ago she washed it and now when she turns her key on her left turn signal comes on and if you push the button to cancel it nothing happens, but if you hit the right side it will cancel the left. if you try to turn the left side back on it works one out of ten tries. at first I was thinking the switch but when I use it for the hazards it works fine.
I checked for moisture everywhere I could and everything comes up dry. I looked for loose wires, bad ground, everything seems to be ok.
She doesn't have the service manual so I don't want to dig to deep without getting a little input
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
I had the same problem. What fixed it was checking all the wire harness connections. They were all cleaned out and coated with dielectric grease. Then taking out all the bulbs and re-coating the connections with the dielectric grease. If that doesn't work try switching all the left and right side bulbs and seeing what happens. I heard sometimes wires in the bulbs can become crossed and that's a simple/fast way of seeing if it's a bulb issue.
There may be an issue of water intrusion at the fuse panel (behind the left side cover). Plenty of reports with trouble in there. Take the fuses and relays out, clean 'em, grease 'em.

When I relocated my turnsignals to hard mount my bags I didn't tape off one of the wires. If you have any wires crosses or shorted it will do exactly what you describe.
So?? Did you solve the problem I have the same problem. I checked everything it could be TSSM?? MY Bike is the 2010 IRON 883. I'm looking forward to hear some advice.. Thank You
Please help, left turn signals don't work I tried everything it's like a switch issue but switch works only option remaning is TSSM!! My closest HD service is 200km away so anything to try would help.. (all 4 turns work!!! right OK.... JUST LEFT DON'T!).
tHANK yOU
dielectric grease on all connections also make sure bulb is seated properly the nipples on the bulb are slightly offset so they only go in one way maybe they arent seated fully
When I press right turn switch the right signals are working if I keep pressed the right switch all 4 blinkers-turn signals are working (also when Ignition to off or alarm all 4 are blinking)!! So I think that it's not a bulb issue...I also changed front bulbs from left to right and nothing new.. right goes left won't..I dismounted all conectors under the petrol tank and put some contact spray (maybe the grease would be better??) I also took out all 5 fuses and 2 relays cleaned them and sparayed them...I also cheked the wires with Ohm meter they are all OK. The left switch gets the voltage and if I bypass the wire b4 the switch nothing happens so I think it's not the switch!! The only thing I can't (or better didn't) mesure is the output of Violet (acoording to harness diagram is the left turn signal) wire on TSSM when battery conected (had to remove and disconect it to take out the TSSM)....?::
