I have an 2012 883 superlow, and sometimes when I am shifting from first to second it will not shift into second just stays in neutral untill I pull shifter up again (sometimes more than twice). stopped in at dealership was told clutch probably needs adjusted, but it shifts fine in all other gears.
could dealership be right?

Reason: mis spellin
It's possible. Adjusting the clutch is fairly easy. It shouldn't take but a few minutes. That said, you got to use good effort to go from first to second. Give it your all! I promise it won't break.
most likely it's because the bike just isn't broken in yet, it takes a good 5,000 miles to really start getting it loosened up. that and everyone misses the shift into 2nd every now & then.
Being a 2012 i would ask if its still under warranty? Then if it is i would let them check it out as it shouldnt even be having any problems! How many miles on it?But like the other poster said its very easy to adjust but if your going to do any work on it your self the first tool you need is a manual..
rented a 2012 heritage softail today... much smoother tranny than prior years, but i had a heck of a time getting it to find neutral.
i think its as mentioned above- will just take some time to break in the gears and it should be fine. but a clutch adjustment would certainly be worth trying.
Has the 1000 mile service been done yet? This is also the time when all the little issues get hashed out.
As for finding neutral? Don't you just hate that? I find it more of a pain when the bike it hot. That bastard just wants to keep slipping into 2nd. Sometimes at a light I know is long I'll go into neutral to give my clutch hand a rest. I'll miss the damn thing and if I eventually find neutral it's time to click into 1st. Lmao The stupid thing is, it doesn't happen all the time. Only when I want it to. You know, kind of like when your spouse decides it's time to ask an "urgent" question during the 9th inning of a tied game. And she needs the answer NOW!

ha ha- good summary... the bike seemed to let me find neutral when it felt like it! yes, it was worse when it was hot.
Dumb question, but gotta ask...you are using the clutch to shift fm 1-2 - right (not "power shifting")? Seems like your clutch could be off a bit + new bike = stiff tranny so have dealership adjust & ride a bit to see if it clears the problem. Another option is to get better oil in your primary, but try adjusting 1st...good luck!
