Default Help needed reinstalling throttle (done with small gap) Shock installation advice?

How hard is it to swap shocks with a lift and wear are the proper lift points?
Got progressive 412's 12.5" to put on in place of mystery 10.5's.

**Update got the Zombie grips on then messed up not getting the clutch grip on before it hardened cut it off and put HD grips on**

First off yes I'm retarded ,

Okay I'm putting new grips on and installed the grip to the throttle cables but I took off the front brake assembly . Now I can't get either back on , I line it up and reach for the wrench and it moves . That and I'll tighten one screw and it will make the other end off . It's driving me crazy , what do you do when you don't have 3 hands and what am I doing wrong?

make sure the brake assembly fits good against the control housing. They are like a puzzle that suppose to go together. If you look on the back of the control housing, you will see a small metal tab that sticks out. Im pretty sure that needs to fit into the brake assembly. I recently changed handlebars and I did it all by myself. Something must be misaligned. Just keep trying, it'll eventually fit together nicely! Good luck!

Ya I see where it connects should I tighten the throttle assembly then do the brake or the other way it just on it's stand so its hard to line it up . should the throttle grip be pretty close to touching the end of the handlebars with a little play. I'll have it fitting correct and as soon as I start to screw in the screws one side will move . I'm scraping the handle bars pissing around . I got the instructions and service manual and this should be relatively quick and easy. Like the collar for the brake assembly should be able to fit flush and still be movable adding kuryakyn zombie grips . Got a Mustang seat on , the seat peg never matched up and when I called them they took my # and never replied . Ended up making the notch slightly bigger and it fits fine but haven't ridden it yet. I can't even throw in the towel since got no way to take anywhere . If i had another set of hands it would help but should be able to do this solo.

I did the throttle first but i didnt tighten it down all the way so it still had some wiggle room. Then try fitting the brake assemble to the throttle body. It really should just fit right up to it.

Tighten the switch housings first, then the brake. You can then slightly loosen them and adjust them around until they fit your hand and all line up.

Also, looking at your pics, it doesn't appear you used a spacer in the brake lever. Hopefully your brake switch is still in good shape at this point. If you get it back together and your brakes lights are messed up, this is why.

+1 I suspect you will be taking it back off to replace the brake light switch.

You will find it useful in future, even with a simple job like this, to have the factory service manual to refer to. Helps avoid a lot of tears!

Back off the throttle cable adjusters, so there is plenty of slack in them. Ensure the twistgrip is turned so that it sits correctly in its housing and the two halves should then close together with ease.

One thing also not mentioned. Make sure the wire harness is in the dimple and you are not pinching any wires.

Did mine recently as well....I thought there was a "slot" of sorts that the wiring from the throttle housing for the turn signals and such just fit into when the housing was closed. There may have been a matching slot on the brake housing? I could be making this up, but that's what I think I remember. It was a close fit regardless, but it did eventually work.

It's all factory minus the new grips, I don't understand why it would be missing a spacer. Any pic of what it should look like . I have the service manual and instructions. It says to tighten the throttle housing to 14-33lbs , should the throttle grip be pressed up against the end of the handle bar with like
1/8" in- out play from the housing. With attaching the brake housing collar shouldn't it be able to line up and tighten flush and still be a little loose to adjust.
