Khrome Werks vs. Cycle Shack Sound Off
Sorry for the amateur quality, my daughter took the vids, and I had to edit around a lot of her yapping and jumping around.
Bike is a 2006 XL1200C (carbed), it's been jetted and has a Vance & Hines VO2 intake, otherwise it's stock. Same camera (Ipod) for both videos.
First up, the Khrome Werks 2.5 HP Plus slip ons. These have the stock fiberglass packed baffles. To me, they sound similar to the SE slip ons, maybe a little louder. I just sold these to someone on the forum.
Below is the same bike, 5 months later, with a Cycle Shack exhaust, PHD-230T. I was looking for a bit more sound, and couldn't pass up a full exhaust for $80 shipped (on Amazon). These have the stock steel baffles.
Overall I've been happy with both. The Cycle Shacks did give me more sound like I was after, though they do sound a bit more "metallic". It seems like I get a little better throttle response with the Cycle Shacks, otherwise, performance seems to be the same. I do like the looks of the tapered muffler better.
Any opinions are appreciated, I don't get out to many bike nights or anything. Had a few compliments at work the first time I rode in with the Cycle Shacks, and heard a few times that the Khrome Werks were "quiet", but I always thought they sounded OK.
There are plenty of drags out there that do have baffles. Before I found those Cycle Shacks I ended up buying, I was leaning toward slip-on drag pipes with baffles. They are pretty inexpensive and from what I've been told, decent enough quality. We don't have any restrictions or any inspections here, so I don't know what would pass and what wouldn't.
The short shots are probably louder than mine, I've heard some and liked the sound on a Sportster, but didn't want to have the same thing everyone else around here does... plus, with the deal I got on the Cycle Shacks, the short shots would have been almost 4x the price.
You might need a few more posts before you can put up a pic and/or video. I know when I first joined the fourm I couldn't put up a pic either.
Before I get any crap for it, yes I am wearing shorts, it was over 100 that day and humid. I do not recommend it, and I would have changed into jeans if I was going any further than a block in either direction.

The jets installed in the carb are 45 and 180, it still has the stock needle and I didn't install a jet kit, just replaced that one jet (stock was a 42). I tuned it a bit with the idle mix screw, I think I ended up at 2 1/4 turns out.
I had this setup in both videos.
