Default Good touring handle bars

I think I need different bars. I now have Buck Horns, they feel very comfortable to me, but I am getting arm fatigue and my hands are going numb. I have read a lot here about this being pretty common. This is my first Harley so didn't really know what to expect, but yesterday, I rode a buddies older Soft-tail, with a lot of miles on it, and I was surprised to find that my bars are not vibrating and shaking much more than his stock bars. But my hands and arms felt fine holding onto the stock bars after nearly an hours ride.
I know a lot of peeps here like Mini Apes, but I am kind-of short with short arms, and I don't think I would I want to reach that far and high and I don't think I would like them. What else is available, that would have a better hand position than my Buck Horns?
I am not a tourer, but I might want to ride a couple hundred miles or more in a day, and the way I am now I just could not do that. So is this a case of size and shape really do matter?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Mini apes make a big difference, just roll them back towards you.
Most of the pics i see they have them shoved way ahead,i tried
them ahead but it was to far for me to reach too.
Mine are 10" mini apes and i did not have to by any cables.

You might look into some beach bars (same style as on the Fat Boys). They don't have quite the same angle as buckhorns, which I personally don't like, and you can get them in a wide variety of widths and pullback.

The angle of those grips would kill me quickly. Rest your hands naturally on a table while sitting thats the angle your grips should be. Better yet, sit on your bike, close your eyes, grab on to an imaginary bar that feels comfortable, open your eyes.............thats where your grips should be.

If you liked the soft tail bars try a set of them as lots of people switch to them. I like apes myself but the ST bars have a nice rise and pull back.
Another fact is that soft tail has a counter bal. motor and does not vibrate like a sportster. Your sporty also appears to be a pre-rubbermount so its vibration is also much more than an 04+. You should be able to find those soft tail bars even through a dealer for like $65 and no cable changes necessary.

The "close your eyes and hold your hands out" method worked for me, I had a spare set of grips at the time, and held those out.

When you shop around, you are looking for 1" diameter bars with dimples. You might be happy with someone's stock take off bars from a newer bike, my 1200C had stock bars with a lot less pullback (and rise) than those.

Just done a 1000+ mile plus tour. my set-up is the same, 10 inch mini apes pulled a little back! Rode 420 miles in one day; not a problem.
