Default 1200 Custom + Power Vision

I have a completely stock 2012 Sportster custom. The bike runs really good without any issues at all as far as I can tell.

I was thinking of purchasing a Power Vision and installing their 'Improved Stock Tune'. What improvements or benefits would this tuner do for my bike?

I'm just looking at improvements that would benefit the engine with out causing any new problems or long term tuning sessions.

What say you?

Your bike left the factory tuned to meet strict EPA guidlines. That means it runs lean and hot. A lot of people, like myself, have installed XiED's or X14iED's to our Stage 1 bikes to get our cruise AFR a little richer. XiED's yield 13.8 and X14's yield 14.0 during closed loop. The other added benefit of a slightly richer mixture is cooler engine temps and thereby cooler oil temps. The Power Vision will allow you to adjust everything within the ECU from fueling, to timing, and VE. If you wanted to, you could build a tune to run on 87 octane instead of 91. This could be handy if traveling south of the border where crap gas is in abundance. The Power Vision will also allow you to extract every last HP out of your bike that is available. Remember, the bike has to work in every state with every kind of gas blend. You can tailor your tune to where you live and the gas you have. If you never plan on going past a Stage 1 bike, I would say it's a waste of money. Unless you like to tinker with things. I spent hours upon hours data logging my GTO and tweaking the tune. It's fun, but risky. I'm sure the police wouldn't have like to catch me doing WOT runs to 130mph to get good logs.

+1. Adding a tuner will result in lower operating temps and better throttle response. If you are looking to stay with the stock look, you might want to look into adding a new air cleaner - Screamin Eagle or aftermarket. This will add a little more pep as you will be drawing in more air and can tune for this addition with the Powervision.

BTW - Hello from Dallas! Saw you were from Plano. I grew up there.

Perhaps I shouldn't say anything since I got the PowerVision and the AutoTune Pro addition for my Stage 1 upgrade...that's overkill for what I have done to the bike.

For you, maybe even moreso. If you're planning on doing some cams or headwork, the PowerVision would be a good buy as you will definately need something like that then.

Otherwise, see Jon's post.

Thanks for all the advice, this is my first HD. I have owned a bunch of metric bikes for over 40 years and did everything to them myself, they were all carb. FI is just new to me.
I wonder, how many of you have installed tuners on a stock Harley just to "play' with it and 'see' what it can do?

I did a Stage 1(Python mufflers, A/C and Powercommander V). Bike is much more responsive and runs cooler which overall makes for a much more enjoyable ride. Down side is a drop in MPG's of about 5.
Try different brands of gas. Mine likes Shell better than Mobil/Exxon and Chevron. Best yet is gas with no ethanol.

Welcome, you should ride for a while before deciding to buy a high priced item like this, it may be you can get more from your bike with cams, yes its true cooler engine temps but there are lots of options...

I have a 1200 XLC with SE pipes and K&N filter and have added the Dynojet Powervision. All i can say is i love it. As mentioned above HD sets lean. It also has an auto tune feature that uses you stock oxygen sensors. It has many other features that you would like but i could go on and on. My opinion is it was exactly what i was looking for after alot of research on other models and brands.
