Found out my '91 Sportster has hazard flashers on it. By pushing both turn signal buttons at the same time, all four indicators flash at once. Fine. No problem. My point is that they only come on with the ignition turned on. If my ride were broken down and causing a hazard, I sure as hell wouldn't leave it with the keys in! And here in the U.K. it ain't legal to travel with the hazards on anyway, so what's the point? Are they wired wrong, or are all Sportsters wired this way? Any info please.
I was wrong. I just checked the manual.
Have the key on, turn on hazards. Then turn key off and the hazards should continue to flash.
To turn them off you need to turn the key back on and press both buttons again.
O.K., tried that. No go. The flashers only work when the key is in the ignition. I can't remove the key in 'accessories' position, and I've tried all combinations of on & off. Must be a wiring issue, if they're supposed to work without the ignition on. All part of the mystery of HD!

Yeah must be something wrong. The last post I wrote was directly outta the manual.
I haven't been able to try mine yet. My bike is over at my grandpas for the winter. If I get over there today I'll test it out and get back to you.
Thanks for the info anyway. At least I can ride the thing as it is, it just bugs me when I can't make sense of how it's supposed to work. Maybe I'll just go fast and forget about it. LOL

I didn't get a chance to get over by my bike today but ill be there for sure tomorrow. Ill let ya know what I find out. Ill test out what the manual says "should" work.
I have a 2009 Nighster the wife has a 2005 883L; I can turn on the flashers, turn the key to off and remove the key on both. It has to be some sort of wiring issue.
