Default 2005 XL883C Wobble

My 2005 XL883C with 45K miles on it has a front end wobble. Specifically, the only time it wobbles is when I roll off the throttle and decelerate between 50MPH and 40MPH. It is worse in the middle of that range. When I maintain a normal, firm grip it's not bad but if I slack off on the grips it is pretty significant. This first started a while back around 30K to 35K and has become progessively worse. During that time period I've had the tires replaced and the forks have been rebuilt, all with no change in the wobble pattern. The tires have always worn normally and I've had them rebalanced with no effect. I've pretty much just dealt with it and not worried about it until recently. Now when I ride at Interstate speeds I'm starting to notice a little less stability. I'm wondering if perhaps the fork tree bearings could be wearing out? Engine mounts need replacing? Other clues? I don't want to just hang parts until it is fixed.

Arrghhhh!!! I didn't think of trying that. I have a bike lift jack and a service manual. I should be able to get that done quickly. Thanks for the wake up call.

Mine does that also. I've rebuilt the forks, adjusted the neck bearings and fallaway. Tires and wheels are fine.

The issue is worn swingarm bushings. The service interval on those is 30K. I've got a new set on order.
