yup good advice although to take full advantage of cams you would need headwork also.

I agree with the due the 1250 kit. Dan AT NHRS is awesome and will work with you on what you need. Just a question though. If you are just buying it how come you dont just buy the 1200 from the factory.

If you take a look at the graphs on NRHS's website, most of the improved performance comes with the 1250 kit. Ported heads and cams all add top end, where few of us ride on the road. The stock 883 heads do very well, unless HP is the main ambition!

Using a 1250 kit is very cost effective IMHO.

I'd consider a competition valve job for 883 heads. Hammer's price is $260. NRHS says their valve job increases flow by about 15% which adds about 10 HP. Here are my results after 1212 conversion and competition valve job, I kept stock "W" cams:

EDIT: keep in mind these are STD numbers. STD is a bit generous with HP/Tq.

agreed! my statement was cams are a waste without headwork. the 1250 kit is the best bang for the buck upgrade. 1250 kit first but i wouldn't do cams without headwork. stock heads do well with stock cams and 1250 kit. however if you are gonna do them no better time than when you have the jugs off.
