Does anyone know what it would cost to bring my 883 up to 1200cc? Whers the best place to have it done? What is usually done to the carb at the same time if anything.
Seeing as you have a rubbermount I would be cautious of going with NRHS. There have been a few people (myself included) that went with an NRHS conversion and had excessive oil use afterwards. Not saying this happens to everyone but believe me if you are unlucky enough to have the problem it sucks major buttocks.
I'd go with the dealer that way at least you should have a guarantee.
my conversion was done by the previous owner by a harley dealer. I would then assume its a screamin eagle kit?. I does not however burn oil etc......98 BTW
You can spend anywhere from 500 dollars for for a kit with the jugs and pistons already fit (you will have to do the labor yourself or have an indy do it). You can buy a screamin eagle kit from HD for about $700 to $1000 + labor. What you do to to the carb would be replacing the slow and main jets and drill out the mixture plug and adjust the mixture.

Conversion kit to do it yourself is about $1200 retail for the SE kit. I'm *really* considering doing this to mine. I took care of the really important stuff first; better brakes, better tires, better suspension components. Now that all that work is done and the bike is basically exactly how I want it, I sure wouldn't mind a little extra punch. It's not a show stopping kind of thing; not like I'll sell the bike if I can't do it, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't been thinking about it.
Just got mine back this weekend from the Knoxville HD dealer had 1200 jugs SE pistons and SE ignition module just breaking her in right now but I can already tell a huge difference. I have done about 100 miles so far and am dying to get the other 900 done and the oil changed and see what she can do. It cost me just over a grand for parts and labor which I though was very good as I also had new air filter and plugs replaced and re-jet
i'm having KHD do my build in 2 days, but mine is an 06 dyna going with a 95 kit from joe mondello. but for your 883 you don't have to do the heads as they good as they are...now you might get a little bigger cam,but other than that just cyclinders and pistons and you will have a badass sporty
