I ran the black HD round ones for a few years with highway pegs on them and liked them.

Won't be running them on the new incarnation of the bike. I think I'm going to fab up a different way to still have some highway pegs though.

Pretty much every HD I've has has had an engine guard. Only used them twice.

Once when a texter ran me off the road and I low-sided. The engine guard took the brunt, saving the rest of the bike and my leg from any damage.

Another time I got hit at about 70 mph, the guard folded up like a piece of paper. Not sure if it absorbed any significant part of the impact or not.

I have an 09 with the round HD crash bars. Took some time to get use to them but I like the look now. I have mids on my bike and am wanting to put hiway pegs on also. Am I right in thinking that they have to be mounted on the crash bars?

I have the hd bar with hd pegs and love it. I installed it about a week after geting the bike. In my oppinion it completly changes the look of the bike and makes it look bigger. I will do anything to mine to make it look lilke a bigger bike.

Yes. Here is a pic of my sporty with the engine guard and highway pegs and heel rest mounted on it.

Are you saying that there will be a new DK engine guard available?
How about guards for my H-D Sportster accessory catalog hardbags?
