kinda hard to explain but only does it on occasion . ok heres the explaination
When you pull out its fine but it will slip like you stabbed the clutch and released it quik , but i never touched the clutch . its not grinding or crunching like there is teeth missing or anything and it doesn't do it all the time i would say 1 out of 4 times i ride and only does it a cpl times
i bought the bike a yr ago and its done it since then . no warranty or anything and if its simple i will fix myself
Please do a complete clutch adjustment to start and see if that fixes things. Also want to probably do a transmission fluid change (1 quart of oil) to see if there is any metallic shavings or brass bits in the oil. That would indicate a failure of the spring plate within the clutch plate pack.
Make sure you give it a strong solid shift into each gear, you won't break it.
Good luck, I hope the clutch adjustment is all you need.

There is an issue with the solid-mount's transmission 1st gear countershaft (and sometimes 3rd) where the dogs get worn down. This causes the gear to skip, which acts like a sudden jump.
Do you start off and everything seems normal, and then all the sudden it hits you real hard for a split second? It sounds like the case by what you described.
My bike also does it, and I'm positive this is the problem. I'll probably wait until winter to tear it apart though. Not interested in pulling the primary/rotor/clutch again this year.

I had this occur a few times in 3rd on my 91, but it has not happened since I make sure to hit 3rd real solid. I had new sneakers at the time that made me soft toe it a bit. Has not happened in a long time now, but I was concerned at the time. I understand that the horseshoe clip or detent plate could be part of the problem.
I was going to mention that possible problem, but have not seen anyone else mention it until now.
