Default Good cleaner for bioot marks

My wife is riding more with me these days. She has the bad habit of touching the inside of her boot on the hot exhasut on my Sporty. Whats the best cleaner for these marks? I don't want anything that will put scratch or swirl marks on the chrome of course so I am leary of things like steel wool. Thanks! (Sorry for the typo in the title!)

Easy Off oven cleaner, but be real careful to not get it on any surrounding parts. You may also be able to get it off by warming the exhaust and lightly rubbing it with 0000 steel wool.

Don't be afraid of the fine steel wool...works perfectly and no chemicals involved.

0000 steel wool and simi-chrome. A little goes a long way and use light pressure when applying and removing.

Use on a cool to touch exhaust so the heel marks won't be gummy.

I've had good luck using Simichrome chrome polish getting boot marks off the exhaust.

Thanks for the replies. I had heard about the Easy Off a long time ago but always thought it might damage the chrome. Do you spary it on cold then start the bike and get the pipes hot or do you try to appy it with the pipies already hot? A friend of mine told me to use a Brillo pad but I think that would scratch up the chrome for sure. the 0000 steel wool seems like that might be a good option as that seems like it would be unlikely to damage the chrome if not used with to much force. I have seen some of the really high dollar stuff on the internet but would definitly like some first hand experience to take advantage of.

I warmed my pipes up and used Goof Off and a rag. I then used chrome polish afterwards to make sure the chrome didn't tarnish. Scuff marks came right off.

No steel wool!! This works: Bunch up some aluminum foil into a ball the size of a golf ball. Use a little solvent. I find Windex works. Spray solvent on the boot mark, let it sit for a bit, then scrub with aluminum foil ball. Elbow grease helps. The foil is softer than the chrome, and can not scratch it. I burned my rain gear onto my pipes...big black spot...and the foil works every time. I toss the foil into the saddlebag and re-use it the next time.
